Keynote Speaker and Basser Global Prize Awardee
The Basser Center is honored to announce Patrick Sung, DPhil, of The University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio as the recipient of the 2024 Basser Global Prize.
Dr. Sung is director of the Greehey Children’s Cancer Research Institute at UT Health San Antonio, associate dean for research, and professor of biochemistry and structural biology at the Joe R. and Teresa Lozano Long School of Medicine at UT Health San Antonio. He received his BSc in biochemistry from the University of Liverpool, his DPhil in biochemistry from the University of Oxford, and completed a postdoctoral fellowship at the University of Rochester. He also holds the Robert A. Welch Distinguished Chair in Chemistry, is the recipient of an Outstanding Investigator Award from the National Cancer Institute and is a Cancer Prevention and Research Institute of Texas (CPRIT) Established Investigator.
